Our doctoral network was busy in France last summer. After attending the WESC conference in Nantes, the next stop was Lannion for an industrial visit and a scientific writing class.
With the two cities lying about 300 km apart, some our doctoral candidates decided to make the journey… by bike!
Over 2.5 days, they rode across the wild landscapes of Brittany. The first two days followed the Nantes–Brest canal, relatively flat and surrounded by stunning forests that inspired Arthurian legends, and passing through splendid medieval towns that recall the proud history of Brittany as France’s last independent duchy.
The last day tested their legs a bit more with a few climbs, including the infamous “Wall of Brittany,” just two weeks before Tadej Pogačar conquered it during the Tour de France 💪
This activity is one of our contributions to the MSCA Green Charter, an initiative from Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions that promotes minimise the environmental impact of the research activities and fostering sustainable thinking in research management.
