Cristina Receives Best Podium Presentation at NAWEA / WindTech 2026
Cristina Mulet-Benzo recently received Best Podium Presentation at the NAWEA / WindTech 2026 conference in Portland, Oregon.
Cristina is a PhD candidate co-supervised by Fraunhofer IWES (Dr. Julia Gottschall) and Vaisala (Andrew Black and Frederic Delbos). The presentation, Characterizing atmospheric waves in the coastal boundary layer from remote-sensing measurements, showed scanning lidar, ceilometer, and microwave radiometer data can classify gravity waves based on their origin: ducted, freely propagating, or vorticity/shear waves. Using measurements gathered at the C-TEST site in Blyth, Scotland, run by Oldbaum Services, Cristina identified four distinct atmospheric wave events by characterizing their source, periodicity through wavelet analysis, and turbulence/flux impact within the boundary layer.
Congratulations to Cristina on the well-deserved recognition and on sharing her research with the wider wind energy community at NAWEA / WindTech 2026.
