Young Professionals Workshop on Standardization in Copenhagen
On September 18, Thea Vanelli and Keeta Chapman attended the Young Professionals Workshop: “Standardization and Standards as a Strategic Tool” in Copenhagen.
The workshop offered an introduction to how standards are developed and how standardization can be used as a strategic tool in product innovation and development. While the workshop was not focused specifically on wind energy, it provided useful insight into the wider Danish and international standardization process.
One of the main activities was a role-playing exercise where participants took on the roles of different stakeholders and worked together to agree on what should be included in a fictional standard. The workshop was also a chance to meet other young professionals and gain a better understanding of how future market requirements are s
haped through formal standardization.
Overall, it was an engaging day and a useful introduction to an area that plays an important role across many parts of engineering and industry.
